She Walks in Beauty

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

George Gordon, Lord Byron

On a recent mug swap I was sent a delicious bar of orange dark chocolate by Chocolove and this beautiful poem was was printed on the inside of the packaging.  I thought it was too lovely not to share.
I love the history of this company and how they want the packaging on each chocolate bar to look like a love letter.  I've never come across anything like this before and think it's a really fun idea.  If you want, you can read more about them here.  With over 30 flavours available you are bound to find something you like.  If you're ever in USA be sure to try and track some down.

How do we walk in beauty? In today's society where we are surrounded by media and celebrities it can be so easy to feel pressured into not feeling good enough (not gonna lie, I fell for it and debated for ages about posting that first picture). We are told to look a certain way, wear certain things, follow the newest trends, use all the gadgets, have a wardrobe full of the latest seasons trends. Blah, blah, blah.  To me, walking in beauty is not about what you look like and the things you have.

To me, walking in beauty is being confident with who you are, being yourself, being strong enough to ask for help when you are feeling weak, being kind, doing things that please you rather than those that please others, being polite, encouraging others rather than judging them or putting them down, helping someone who is struggling, going that extra mile to make someones day brighter, being self-less, being respectful and by simply loving on others.  Everyone is beautiful in their own way and everyone has the opportunity to walk in beauty.

Here are just some of the few beautiful ladies in my life.
